It's good to have Chompy back at the Discovery Channel HQ.

Shark Week has been around since the late 80's, and I remember loving to watch it during my summer vacation - it was a real savior from my severe boredom that had built up near the end of summer.

And **** you discovery for a whole night of mythbusters/dirty jobs on shark week. I lost a whole night of this orgy of shark-dom because of that. At least there was good baseball on.

The guy who is taking over my job is an expert on guiding for and catching the fearsome mako sharks. I believe he has taken the second largest mako shark on record.

I only learned from him that the Santa Monica Bay is a major breeding ground for mako sharks. Fortunately, since they are a pelagic shark, they are not much of a danger to humans. They are major predators of dolphins and swordfish, among other creatures of the deep.

Is he or has he been featured during Shark Week? This is a completely serious question.

Too bad they don't have anymore shark bite videos this year. Was it 3yrs ago when the host of one of the shows got his calf bit off in the shallows?

I wonder what Sissy Spacerock would say to a shark?
