Yeah...I remember that part of the movie very well. Thanks! And the fact that the pants are not flared makes the suit extremely timeless. What happened to Sills?

Morty Sill retired, and like most operations that are essentially one man (maybe with assistants), that's the end of them.

I think a lot of suits from the 70s were in this cut, the problem would be finding them in the type of lighter weight worsteds that people today like. I suppose TF offers that.

What's fascinating to me about these one man operations is the remarkable amount of "image" they create without a marketing machine...I mean to be known by CEOs across every industry without ever spending a penny on marketing yourself...

When out of town execs would come to NYC, and if you wanted to impress them or you liked them, "take them to Sills" was like a ritual...

I have to say something about one the suits in QoS. The suit in this scene, really doesn't look natural on him. It is a beautiful suit, he has the body type for the suit, but it looks like a costume. It doesn't look broken in.

Friends talk to friends ... colleagues to colleagues. It is fascinating.

Of course, when looking back in time ... the purveyer of a true luxury didn't have to advertise. Today's "luxury" retailers must ... primarily because they don't sell things which are truly the best ... the sell bottom lines to stockholders.
