You're right, it's not an "implication." It's "evidence of dumbfuckery."

No, it really isn't. People bought a limited edition product and now, surprise! It's not limited edition. I sincerely doubt that this bag helped the Ugandans involved a whole lot anyway; it's just marketing. At any rate, these guys aren't saying they weren't happy to help with that -- it's not even factoring into the discussion, and several users said they were still happy about that. It's about being sold something and then Apolis retroactively changing what they were sold. Like it or not, that limited number of 200 was part of the product, so to do a second line is pretty dishonest. They should've waited a year or so and done a different bag rather than re-releasing this one.

They didn't even need to wait a year, they could've just made a different style and sold that in 200 pcs without causing all these problems.

Hence the appropriateness of Shore's comment about the civil war plates. They're a business--they can't pass up what is essentially "free money." They probably didn't expect such a successful marketing push.

Funny thing is that they've already announced another bag for spring. Sans Filson this time. We'll see how well that sells. EDIT: oh and a set of belts too. Two chances to learn your lesson, people!

I actually rarely wear a belt with my jeans, most are already pretty tight (some too tight). Depends on what time of day, how much I've slept and eaten, whatever, but I actually get the Asian red flush when drinking I think based on how tight my pants are - ie how comfortable and well I can breathe. I have like 3-4 jeans that I actually wear on the regular that sit too low and dig into my belly when I sit down for too long, and eating and drinking like that just catches up with me sometimes.

I could drink pantsless if I hung out with Socal and possibly solve my problem, but you know how that would end.

yeah that bag... i thought it was a cool idea but then i thought wow, 200 (or however many were originally made) bags worth of cottom really couldnt help any farmers too much. so i too figured it was just a semi-scam aimed at people who get butt hurt if they see someone else with something they have. some of those posts seem to confirm my thoughts as well as the success of the marketing.
in other news, that one post a little bit back (from impolyt i think) pretty much condensed what ive been thinking for so long. not so much about the people from other places because i really dont go anywhere, although im sure hes probably right about it, but about these dudes that try to formulate this "perfect" matchy match style or whatever, especially with streetwear. it comes out soo unnatural

def agree wit this. got into habit of wearing my tanner belt with new raw denim to prevent stretching waist but if your jeans are already tight, wearing a thick leather belt like tanner is just ridiculous

The reason I am led to believe this is that SF has a lot more American members than sufu or other related fora; there is a pervading shopping attitude in America that says 'yo, I got a few pairs of black shoes, but now I gotta get some brown shoes to match these pants/outfit, and then yeah some grey shoes for these pants, etc, and wait, I gotta match my belt to my shoes, and can I wear this black jacket with my blue jeans? nah, gotta get the navy or grey version too' and it leads to people buying a lot of the same stuff but in different colors. More than a couple guys here have both the brown and the black W+H boots, I bet. I find sufu'ers to be less picky, and part of that is because the Europeans, the Asians from other countries, the Australians, whether it is due to a lack of overall storage or finances, make much more calculated buys for their style but also at the same time, just don't get too bothered by whether something matches perfectly or if it matches a set idea. Americans have some pretty traditional streetwear ideas that say 'tee shirt, jeans, sneakers; if a, then replace with boots, but jeans over boots, if b, then labor to find perfectly fitting jeans, if c, match color of jacket to b, etc,' and they over analyze it a lot. Look at all the silly newb questions that get posted on here on a regular basis that make you want to tear your face off.

I don't think I ever was a huge perpetrator of this, but I was more like this in the initial stage of getting interested in SF ****.

I've definitely turned into the cop a few high end a season and wear them with versatile basics person, and I have to catch myself make good decisions instead of just buying **** because it's cool (unless it's really cheap). I still spend much more $ than the average person on clothing but much less than the SF uniform copping robot.

A while ago there was a DIY thread or post about slimming down / altering shirts yourself. I could swear it was PinkPantser who wrote it, but a thread search reveals nothing.

Anyone remember this?

Well, part of it is this too; guys on here love colors, as far as I can tell. They really just like throwing colors into their outfits, whether that's because they're starting out on their style journey and that's how they've always dressed; buy a bunch of colors and match stuff to them, or because they're deep in the game and are flailing about trying to match their Junya plaid to their Epaulet plaid and finding the right Alden/Red Wings to match.... colors are just dangerous territory if you don't have endless bank, because you either commit to a palette or two, or yeah, you most likely will end up with a bunch of clothes you can't do much with. I actually have this problem myself, but it will mostly solved with a couple fixes....
