GQjean, it does not sound like you should experiment with raw denim or sizing down with jeans that stretch to fit (APC), at this time.

No insult intended, it just sounds like this is not going to end well.

Do you live in a place where you can try on decent jeans? Some Levis are just fine. Get a pair that fit well, wear the hell out of them, and in the meantime learn about the other denim that is out there and find out if it is for you. It may not be. Nothing wrong with that.

You can also watch the buy & sell forum here to see if something pops up in your size at a discount. You can buy it and, if you don't like it, sell it for not much less than you paid for it. I did that quite a bit when I was learning about denim.

Does anybody have any experience with getting out sugar based stains from raw denim?

I have only had them for around 2 months with not very much wear, and really don't want to have to wash them yet. I was just wonder if anybody had any remedies, or if I should just cold soak them, and maybe give them a little rub.
For anybody wondering, it is Maple Syrup. Damn stubborn lid.

Here are some pics for size reference.

Now your calling him an idiot :p It doesnt take a brain surgeon to know that if you wear a 30 for example in "normal jeans" you should get a 28 in raw huffer4 dip a sponge in cold water and dab the stains its sugger based so it dissolves fairly easy

The thing with gap and uniqlo is that gap doesn't fit very slim and you don't really have a uniqlo store near you to try stuff on. It sounds like you aren't really in NEED of jeans right now. Wearing american eagle isn't going to kill you (some would disagree) and not everyone is as judgmental as people on styleforum. I still suggest you get a nice fitting pair of levis and then move on to a pair of APC's or just save your money and wait. You could also look at the post pictures of your denim thread (http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?p=2406060) to see what looks good and what's so special about raw denim. Then, make a decision. Even if gap and uniqlo are relatively cheap, you don't want to drop $80 on something you don't like. It would be far better to wait and save up and buy something that you'll want to wear everday.

Just like gqjean, i want to buy my first pair of raw denim.
I know APC is the standard choice and the pricing is not bad. The new standard fit looks like what I want. However, I can get some KMW 1980's for a similar price and I understand the quality is much better. Are the two similar in fit (both slim straight?) and which should i go for. (RRL is another option but i've heard mixed reviews).
Thanks!

That's your problem fattie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also: APC's tint is more purple than anything.

APC's don't stretch as much as everyone is making them out to, only in the waist really. As long as you size down correctly and are willing to put up with the initial discomfort it will be fine.

Just spot clean. Try a damp wash cloth or an old tooth brush and some water, maybe a little dish soap. If that fails just ******* wash them.

Look dood there are many reasons why people might not want to go with raw; for instance they are not as soft as washed denim and they will bleed on white shoes. Some people are okay with that because they want the upside of raw--the fades. Some people are not.

This is the sort of information that GQjean would have if he were to look at the old threads. He isn't willing to do that.

So I will reiterate--raw may not be for him at this time or ever.
