Light-weight (9-oz) Flannel Suit

I love the look of a flannel pin-stripe suit, but I only have 2 other bespoke suits and want something more practical and year-round than a traditional flannel suit. I saw a Smith & Co book that has light-weight 9 oz flannels (Ultra Fine Merino).

Any opinions would be appreciated. E.g., Would this be a suit that I could wear for most of the year in NYC? How will this sort of flannel hold up over time?

I want something that doesn't look like a boring RTW worsted charcol pin. Flannel pins look more distinguished, and the drape is great.

I have a suit in H&S 'Dragonfly' (8 oz flannel) I like it in that it has sort of a flannelly look but wears very cool. It is however a fairly delicate cloth. Truth be told, the more experience i'm having with the very soft finished H&S flannels, the more I'm liking Scabal.

8 oz anything is pretty much a summer suit.

Informally I'm told it goes for $250 per yard...but I'm wishing its a lot less so I can snag 6-8 yards for a 3 or 4 piece suit Anyone have the contact number for Smith & Co. here in the U.S. or at least a web site for the English firm?

I have seen these 9 ounce Smith flannels and am intrigued. If they had an off white, I would get a trouser.

Not as well as a heavier cloth, but okay. Light flannels just don't have much body.

Yeah. I always thought a major appeal of flannel was its meatiness.

Draper's has some great lightweight flannels. Sometimes marketed in the Lesser book.

Eh, if anything I wish I had ordered a heavier flannel for my suit. I think it's 13/14 ounces; 16 ounces or more would have been nice.
