Do you like dogs? If you do, then go ahead and get one. If you don't, you'd better train your kids really well so they can take care of the dogs.

I personally don't care for pets. They're animals and shouldn't be contained in small spaces. But, to each his own. My gf loves dogs, so one day we might have to get one. If we ever do, she's going to be 95% responsible for the dog.

Yes, they will not shed on your floor, but they will still **** and vomit on it from time to time. One of our dogs used to eat its own **** and then vomit. I never quite figured that one out.

My dog has never **** on the floor. Thrown up once, I believe.

The cats are another story entirely when it comes to vomit; enter the Bissell SpotBot.

Frankly, a dog is a lot of responsibility but I don't need to tell a parent of two this.

Dogs are the best but as all have said, a massive responsibility. Mine died recently and it's been pretty awful. I miss him constantly but I don't think there will be another one as I am not really set up for it.

Dogs are awesome, and they will teach your kids a little responsibility. Still, you need to be up for it yourself.

^ I've seen this a couple of times. Once, in Hyde Park, I saw a man bicycling slowly down the sidewalk with a very large Tabby on his shoulder. Every 15 feet or so, the cat would jump off, he'd stop, the cat would sniff around, and then he'd pick it up and continue a bit further until the cat wanted to sniff about again. It was impressive.

Something like this would be charming to walk in the park, maybe with a gilt leather leash. Perhaps, I could add a little hat.

Growing up, we went to a musical festival a few towns over. I saw a woman walking her cat, however, it wasn't like on a leash and actually walking. She had the cat in a baby stroller and she was pushing it around. Everytime she stopped walking, the cat jumped out and strolled around a bit. When the cat was done, it hopped back into the stroller and they took off again until the cat wanted to walk around some more. She even had a little kitty litter box underneath the carriage part of the stroller. It was indeed strange.

My neighbor, an elderly woman, often takes her cat into the park adjacent to my neighborhood. I walk my dog in there frequently and sometimes run across her and Kiki, strolling along under the groaning oak trees.
