People like to feel better by being judgemental. Pretty simple, really.

Oh yeah, no offense to Matt BTW. I'm pretty sure he has taste. But most Cayman owners, present company excluded, seem pretty douchey to me.
Wow. Four seconds.
If you just want speed, get a corvette.
Because the Cayman S is faster than a Carrera:
Owning a sports car is a legitimate hobby that just happens to be more evident in your everyday life. What the hell is the point of money if you can't spend it on hobbies that you enjoy? Is quality clothing somehow a more justified expense than a car just because we're into it?
It is faster and offers better handling on a track and, but if given the opportunity, would you choose the Cayman over the 911?
Indeed. I just wish they weren't so judgmental about the cars that I happen to like.
Like I said, I don't really pass judgment on people or treat them differently for owning a Porsche - it's not any business of mine. My main point was that spending a ton of money on something which ultimately is [impractical] conveyance strikes me as somehow wasteful when there is so much poverty, etc. in the world, yada yada. I told you it was some subconscious commie crap. All that said, it's not like I'm giving 70% of my income to charities either.
I agree with this principle. Now, if it is demonstrated to me that a person owns a beautiful, expensive and extremely high performing automobile and also cannot operate it properly, I will sneer openly. Like the guy with the $40k Harley who was too cool and trying to ignore me up until I shouted at him, while trying to tell him his kickstand was down and he was about to drive off and plant it in a turn and crash.
jealous of a porsche cayman? Thats like being jealous of an ugly person.....neither one is cool, you got nothing to be jealous of my friend. Your subaru is just as cool I promise. Caymans are driven by old guys who can't afford real sports cars so they think they're cool in their little convertible its about as cool as a sebring convertible
Fair enough, but I'm sure plenty of people would say the same about whatever hobby you spend your money on is. Like a website devoted entirely to men's clothing (I realize this is not strictly a hobby, also, it is awesome).
