I likely wouldn't

I too would prefer the Cayman over the 911 (unless we are talking about the turbo). Like dah said, the Cayman doesn't try to kill you if you make the mistake of breaking during a turn. OTOH I do have a soft spot for the 993- just don't like having to take care of a 10+ y.o. car.

The kill factor has been gone for quite sometime, atleast I know the 996's and 997's were engineered to prevent heavy understeer and snap oversteer. I too loved the 993's, but I'm still fond of the 997's (I prefer the round headlights and the flared rear fenders vs the 996's).

....plus I often daydream about owning a GT2 (but the bank account and family quickly end that dream).

I told you it was some subconscious commie crap. All that said, it's not like I'm giving 70% of my income to charities either.

Now, if it is demonstrated to me that a person owns a beautiful, expensive and extremely high performing automobile and also cannot operate it properly, I will sneer openly. Like the guy with the $40k Harley who was too cool and trying to ignore me up until I shouted at him, while trying to tell him his kickstand was down and he was about to drive off and plant it in a turn and crash.

Like all those folks on the Watch Appreciation thread who use their moon phase complications on a daily basis? **** I bought a PS3 a few months ago and only play those $10 Playstation NEtwork games on it.

Btw, even if I could afford both, I think I would take the Cayman over the 911. With the cayman you get alot for $65K with the 911 (knowing myself) I wouldn't be happy until the ticker reach $100K and at the price I may as well buy a ferrari (and be douchier).

i think it's (a). i keep telling myself, "i'm sure my portfolio is much bigger than his" (yeah, pretty douchey, eh?) but damn, i sure wouldn't mind driving around in a Porsche. (for full disclosure's sake, my dream car is a 911 Turbo)

No, because even if they don't use the complications, they probably at least know how to use them.
