Instant oatmeal has way too much sugar. As this thread seem to be headed that way; I will confirm I also eat Oatmeal daily; the boil it up yourself kind.

I'm a big fan of Oatmeal. Could be the perfect breakfast. I prefer Old Fashioned or steel cut; the instant is awful. I add a tablespoon of natural peanut butter, and maybe a splash of milk if I'm feeling adventurous. No sugar, though, I admit it tastes better that way. I'm sweet enough.

I misspoke. I hate brown sugar AND mayple syrup in my oatmeal. Natural is bad enough but I once had the "opportunity" to try the Maple & Brown Sugar packet that came in my variety pack and wow...I immediately knew what sweetened vomit tasted like.

Oatmeal is the perfect camping breakfast (aside from the fact that it tastes best heated which uses up camp fuel). Just sticks in your gut and fuels you until lunch. That's about the only time I ever eat it, but it tastes absolutely delicions then.

I agree... steel cut oats, cooked overnight and heated in the morning. I usually make a large batch at once and freeze the remainders in individual portions - microwaving as I want them each day.

I usually just put a packet of Splenda on top, but I may have to try some of these ideas now.

FYI - I've just started eating oats in the past few years and I really like it.

i eat mcann's irish steel cut oatmeal
(i use the mcann's suggested overnight method - just boil your water the night before and throw in the oats (4 to 1 ration of water to oats) and turn it off and cover the pot; in the morning, it takes about 10 minutes to heat up and your set to go)

i've eaten some form of oatmeal almost every morning of my life since i was a kid, and i've grown to eat it plain, no brown sugar, no milk, nothing added whatsoever

If it's in a packet it's not real oatmeal anyway.

Real men only eat oatmeal ripped from the body of an oatbest they've killed themselves and then cooked over the ashes of their enemy's home.

But really, the sugary flavored instant crap in the little packets sucks. Do you get the kind with the little marshmallow dinosaurs eggs that expand as they absorb the hot water?

Sorry, you're right. It's just a shame that I only have time for my instant oatmeal with pink hello kitty marshmallows as I'm on my way to the hospital improve a child's health. Not all of us have the time to wait for oats to soak and slowly cook while scheming up ways to include that time on a client's tab. If only...

oatmeal is good but gets really old if that's all you're eating for breakfast day in day out. gotta mix it up a little. maybe some fresh fruit here and there and the occasional muffin or bagel.

Just don't be the guy who gives Dennis Quaid's infant twins 10,000 units of Heparin.

Trust me, you'd rather have been making oatmeal.

Oatmeal is great, especially flavored with brown sugar and/or cinnamon.

I love oatmeal and eat it often. I add either apples or berries with mine.

Yeah, I heard about that. The real medical mystery was, "Dennis Quaid got laid? HOW?"
