(Actually, I did not see Cronkite's announcement live; I instead was told by my teacher, who'd learned from the teacher across the hall. Yes, I am that old.)

I've never cried at the end of a show, but, "When the Levees Broke" and the coverage of 9/11 brought me pretty close to tears.

You good sir, have entirely too much time on your hands. Please send me some of your free time, I shall pay for the post upon its arrival...

Not sleeping much has its virutes, I suppose.

What do you think about white pique double-breasted vests with a singled-breasted one buttoned peak lapel jacket and a stiff wing collared shirt with a single stud? It's the only way to wear a vest.

Not a TV show so to speak, but the saddest thing I've ever seen over the boob tube.
For me, it's 9/11, no doubt. I watched the towers come down live on CNN and I will never forget it.

God bless the FDNY.

I'm not sure a DB evening vest really works with black tie. (Whew!) With white tie, smashing.

Personally, I think a white pique vest is the best look for a single-breasted black-tie jacket.

A much more elegant look than a black--or blue--self cloth.

1969 - The Forget-Me-Knot

Mrs. Emma Peel whispers in John Steed's ear as she departs forever.

Then, on the way out the door to meet her long-lost-for-many-years-in-the-jungle husband waiting outside in his Corniche convertible, Emma encounters Tara King. Whereupon she says to Tara, "He [Steed] likes his tea stirred anti-clockwise."

It doesn't get any sadder.

I agree, it is very nice, but not DB for black tie.
