Very much, I like it. More of a comment on the fact that you have not been seen around these parts in a while....

Thanks, Pand. I think some chestnut suede double monks would have been perfect....alas, I own none.

Cool jacket, Fuuma. Is the top half a different material or color?

Stealthy and unexpected use of blue, Fred.

"Inspired by a jacket worn by Wilfrid Noyce on an Everest expedition, the Cameraman jacket has an upper made of Mackintosh, and a lower made of Harris Tweed, to keep the wearer warm in extreme conditions. It features specially made metal clips, and waxed cord in the hood and hem." Cabourn is one of those crazy Englishmen obsessed with historical artifacts of a fallen empire, in this case military uniforms and outerwear. He's a little bit too much on that timeless tip for me to wear most of his designs but some of the pieces are just so nice. "Nigel Cabourn has worked in the fashion industry for over forty years, but his clothing has little in common with most people’s concept of the word fashion. He is influenced not by trends but a longstanding passion for vintage clothing, fabric and details. These elements have formed the basis for much of his output over the years and continue to be a vital part of his collection today. Nigel Cabourn was a student at Northumbria University from 1967-1971 and he started his own label while still in his final year and against all advice stayed in the North of England, another source of inspiration over the years. This cold, windy location has certainly influenced him and he is known to be one of a few true outerwear specialists. Nigel has collected vintage clothing for over 30 years and has an archive of over 4,000 pieces, including salvaged British Military uniforms and workwear and a trove of exploration garments unearthed from all corners of the globe. It is this ever increasing vintage collection that is the cornerstone of each collection, not a response to a particular trend or general demand. Each collection has a real story, sense of history and integrity underpinned by the highest level of quality. Today the Cabourn team work and play in a converted gardener’s house at the bottom of his garden overlooking a cricket pitch and are the envy of everyone who visits them, especially when it’s summer and they’re working in the sunshine!"

Wow. Super cool. Like a more conservative Junya Watanabe.

Yes, exactly. He is definitely riding the current "workwear/heritage/when men were men" which has allowed him to get more exposure but I doubt his output will change much if any. He sometimes sells some of his vintage pieces on ebay and there are some gems among the lot. I do own a few WWII and after militaria things but I'm not very obsessive so it's a very limited amount (Scandinavian countries have especially nice pieces IMHO).

I know ManofKent is a fan but I am surprised it isn't more popular on MC; inspired by a longstanding tradition, made in England to exacting standards and consistent over the years should be major selling points. I'm also interested in a sherpa jacket but have never found one on my size.

Northumbria university sounds a bit more snooty than Newcastle Polytechnic!

It's been a loooooooooooooooong week. My reward?

A healthy, smiling family and a glass of four roses small batch, two cubes, heavy/leaded glass. No complaints.

Rest up everyone. Or not.

Blue: JCrew sweater, Beau tie Ltd., HY pant, BB shirt, socks?
Non: Carminos, SD

This made me smile. Longing for a third (this evening) fit for some reason. Symmetry?

Alright first attempt at the WAYWRN, as well as my first go at the Friday Challenge. Please ignore the rumpling in the thigh area, no idea what was happening there.
