My wife just got braces in May and they started making a difference in a matter of weeks.

Saying the clear "braces" stain, when it is in fact the elastics that stain, is the point I was making. The only place my elastics stain .. is on the elastics on the bottom for the back 2 teeth on both sides. i'm 19 and a sophomore in college and i'm about to get braces. just normal braces, but with the ceramic brackets that are pretty much invisible. well, they're hard to really notice i guess. slightly visible.
no big deal for me. probably only gonna need them for 12-18 months. they'll be gone during my junior year, and i'll be walking around with a beautiful ******* smile by the time i'm in law school. ez.
