Once all the mud was removed, just a light clean with lukewarm water, followed by a couple of goes over with burgundy shoe cream, buffed with a soft brush. Testament to the durability of the boots more than my skills.

So, I just bought these, but only after I returned from the store did I remember that nubuck is a prime candidate for indigo stains. I've heard a good coat of nubuck protector and steady brushings will solve the problem, but will that be enough? I know a bunch of you own black nubuck boots, so what have your experiences been?

asking for some advice here. I bought these months ago on impulse but have never been into how high the heel is. Do you think a cobbler would be able to shave them down? Would you recommend a procedure like that or just put them on B&S?

Looks like a stacked heel, should be an easy job for a cobbler

Awful lot going on with those boots, and it's a shame, because they'd look decent toned down a notch or ten.

Since I found Foot the Coacher stuff - I'm been saving my pennies for a trip over to Japan. Good thing Virgin Atlantic have a sale and have granted my wish. I think the person who designs the products was an apprentice at Trickers. I quite like the overloaded detail as you can offset it by wearing minimalistic details for rest of outfit and have shoegazers worship your boots, as it were.

the ones above go for over £600 - other ones I covet:

Recent Gilt purchase: Esquivel Battallion Lo boots in brown suede. Initially, I was a bit concern about the front zipper lip - just didn't feel right. However, when zipped up and wore under jeans, it's not that bad.

The distressing, quality of the leather and construction are just amazing!

one minor gripe is that I thought they come with Riri zipper as on Gilt's site. However, mine do not have Riri zipper. Anyone else purchased these boots from Gilt? do they come with Riri zipper?

I'd kop these in a heartbeat if they had conventional laces. Love everything else about them. They have a definite Carpe Diem esque appeal.
