That sucks. A friend of mine is in a similar situation. Whenever his mom brings up politics he just sits there and nods, but inside he is going apeshit.
Mrs. T and I decided long ago that we're just going to call her on her crap, when she does it in person - and it's worked. She was attacking Gore in a recent conversation, we flung some questions back at her testing her base of knowledge, and she retreated pretty quickly.
So in person, it's not so bad, but e-mail is where she gets to hide behind the veil of other peoples' words and present them with a non-committal comment at the front, which I used to ignore completely. But - again, thanks to Artisan Fan and a large contingent of CE (and I'm not being snarky or mean here) - I came to realize that people only forward that in which they find merit, unless they preface with a facepalm of some sort.
I wouldn't mind it so much if she had some weight behind her thoughts other than party-line dogma, but she just decided that Repubs = good and Dems = bad, and never thought much else. What's ironic in the extreme is that she's the black sheep, politically: her parents were Dems, her in-laws were split, and pretty well the whole extended family is Dem. She's not even opposing out of a well-thought out principal, she's just being defiant. ARG.
