I would just get an English-made shoe from pediwear.co.uk or something. There doesn't seem to be anything special style-wise about the OC boots, and you can definitely find something better for a similar price.

They look cheap and are cheap. The material is going to be thinner/lighter than you're expecting. They don't age particularly well because of the cheap leather/suede they use. The construction isn't piss poor but is not very good considering other shoes in the $300-400 range. Definitely not worth the retail price, especially since in the past year, the retail has jumped about $100. On sale at the $150-250 range it's not a terrible buy but still. When/if you buy them you'll understand that they look/feel kinda cheap. That said, a lot of the OC shoes are really great styling wise. It's a shame there aren't more companies doing similar shoe shapes, colors, and textures with slightly better quality. Rachel Comey does black and brown shoes/boots that are very similar and are nicer than the OCs. However, the nice grey suedes (which i own), the navy suede boots, and some of the other colors are nice. I'm still in the market for a pair of the navy suede desert boots and the black canvas laceups if i can find them for below $200. If you're just getting plain black or brown boots, you should be able to find that elsewhere though.
