If that list makes me dull, then so be it. FWIW 10 years ago I was 25 years old and 5 weeks away from getting married.

Damn. 10 years ago I was 4 weeks from getting married. Small world.

That said, I can echo numbers 1 (undone), 2,3,5,6 (conditionally), 7, and that's about it, though.

I agree with the age. It's tough to understand at 28 years old why you could not be included. Afterall it's been 10 years since high school. At 28, things are just cranking into gear. At 38, I could write a list of 100 pretty easily, but here is my 10.

Time to myself
A good Watch
Cooking
Trail running
A good single malt
Triple shots of Espresso (if you have kids, you know what I mean)
Flat front trousers
Striped ties
Hanging out after golf instead of going back to work
Stretching

So in a decade you'd have transformed from a closeted gay democrat to a normal straight Republican?

For me, things I like now that I didn't like at 19 include:

Blazers (though not with bright brass buttons)
DB jackets/suits
Proper black tie (cummerbund/vest + bow tie)
Bill Clinton (in retrospect, what a wise, capable leader!)
Al Gore (ditto)
Universal health care
Goodyear-welted shoes (back then my "good" shoes were Blake-stitched Ferragamos)
Zip cardigans
Bob Barr (Sort of, now. At least I no longer think he's a mega-douche)
Electronica and hip-hop (at 19 I was rock/jazz/classical only)

I've thought about this for a while, and I'm still not sure I can answer it easily, a lot of my tastes are still similar. Perhaps I'm just consistent, perhaps I just had good taste when I was young.

1) navy blazers (very recently have I accepted them)
2) button down collars (again, really recent)
3) brown shoes of any sort
4) earth tone clothes
5) sushi (hadn't even tried it 10 years ago)
6) sleep (I liked it 10 years ago, but it was easy to obtain. now I never feel I have enough)
7) foreign language (felt it was useless, now wish I wasn't so dumb and could learn more faster)
8) scotch
9) ballet
10) news sources like WSJ and the Economist

We lack discernment, so everything we come across is definitionally "the best thing ever" and we lack balance, so tend to throw ourselves very singlemindedly into our pursuits at that time of our lives.

I'm sorry, I couldn't read through this whole post without falling asleep.

It was specifically written to make 17 year olds fall asleep.
