I know this board isn't big on runway threads, but given SoCal's homage to his preferred clothier, I gotta rep mine too...

No Country for Old Men indeed...George Carlin nod right on cue...being only 24, is it worrisome that I relate to this EXACT collection, the clothes, the mood, the attitude more than anything else that's come out of fashion week so far?

I like it a lot more than his S/S 08 collection. Are you going to be picking anything up from this season? That first suit (tweed?) and the cream linen suit look awesome.

yeah im hoping to scrape up enough dough to pick up a suit or two from this collection, maybe another pair of the lace ups (they look great). definitely more shirts as well....actually probably shirts will be my biggest purchase since the weather here isn't condusive to wearing anything more.

I also liked these ones:

It's interesting that he used older men - they seem to look far better in his clothing than the young models.

The fact that he uses such a variety of models impresses me.

I really like the vibe of this show, love how he uses both older and bigger models for a more varied approach.

I love looking at Yohji's shows. I don't think I'd look good, but I really appreciate his aesthetic

Yohji commented that this collection was a reflection of how he saw the world as it is today - in a kind of sad state - and mentioned that we all need to be happier.

In that sense, I regard the youth/old contrast to this show as being perhaps...the young being the former versions of what eventually transformed into haggard looking, beaten and world weary old men. Gettin some retro vibes in the styles of the younger models, with the frames, hairdo and all...maybe i'm reading too much into it, but that's how i interpret it at least. Youthful optimism contrasted with a lonely and tired, but well lived/experienced/traveled old age.

+1 I don't really "get" the look that he's going for, but the use of different models was probably the coolest thing about the show.

Pollyanna is the only one I know of at the moment but it's insanely marked up and limited selection. Luisa Via Roma used to have a small collection but they dropped it starting this fall.

If I was old and tall, I would certainly rock Yohji.

Being 5'8'' I can't pull out that aesthetic.

Those old models + outfits = awesome though.

Actually, Yamamoto's characteristic drapey, oversized silhouette, both in his signature line and in Y-3, took its inspiration from post war Japanese men wearing American clothes (which were obviously oversized on the much smaller Japanese).

As for this collection, some of the pieces, and the "old man" inspiration, look like those of a much less known Tokyo designer's SS08 collection. Don't remember the name right now. But I'll update once I can remember the reference.

Not bad. But I'm not blown away either.

not online, but one of Alan Bilzerian's favorite designers is Yamamoto, and his buying is superb, so you could call the store. The guys are very helpful.
