The price of this in the UK is £429 from Oi Polloi. Anyone know of any US stores that are doing it cheaper and posting to UK?

The stuff made in the USA is for the high end "Woolrich Woolen Mills" Line, which is designed by Daiki Suzuki (of Engineered Garments fame), and sells at retailers like Context, Jake, and Bergdorf Goodman. it is owned by an Italian firm. The other line is traditional workwear, run by a US company.

actually there is also mainline woolrich that's made in the US and sold only in Europe. perhaps owned by the italians? oi polloi carries both this and wwm. making a total of 3 woolriches worldwide. the expensive stuff on ebay should be the higher quality, more-exact-replica european woolrich. it's also on yoox mixed in with wwm stuff.

^ To add to the confusion, there's also a Woolrich line put out under the name of John Rich & Bros (some of which is also on yoox).

So the ones OiPolloi has are possibly different to the cheaper versions on ebay and in other outlets then? I can't find any other UK stores that stock this particular coat. Can anyone recommend an alternative brand?

upping this...

I tried on a buffalo plaid wool shell Woolrich Arctic parka today, and I thought it was tagged Woolrich woolen mills, but I might be mistaken, since I cant find it in any WWM collections. Anyone have info?
It was made in the us, down filled and with some retro style tags about arctic pipe workers and -40.

Im trying to get some backround on the value...

yup, there's the "john rich & bros" woolrich that is italian. i mean, they just bought the brand, and now the pieces are designed here, but still made in the usa and somehow linked to woolrich woolen mills in woolrich, pa. you can see the whole collection here. i have the adirondak parka in black and it is really, really good and warm. but theyre really expensive here in italy: i bought mine for 550 euros, and the other parkas cost just about the same. i'll post some pics, when i'll have a camera available.

Thanks! Are you positive the plaid Arctic parka I found is from this line? I cant find any buffalo plaid jackets on their site... It was around 300 euro, which sounded pretty fair to me.

This Woolrich line confusion is killing me...

Hard to say without pictures of the jacket and tags. The "Woolrich Woolen Mills" tag apparently existed before their collections with Daiki, so it could be from before he came on board, but it could be a piece that was never shown on the WWM website as well.

Woolrich's fragmented branding is fucked up, that's for sure.

i doubt. i've never seen it, nor passing by the streets nor in the official shop (where i bought mine). moreover, the price seems to me too low: here we pay about twice as much for the arctic parkas! if you want, i can call the wholesaler for italy (that is the same company that owns the brand, i think) and ask. but you'll have to wait until tuesday, since tomorrow is a national holiday here.

and not only for woolrich stuff. everything costs way more than in the us, because of taxes. at least we have a national health service.
