I'm not a SF regular (so forgive me if I am posting this on the wrong section of the forum!), but I have come here whenever I have had important style questions and have always received good advice from you all.
My wife would like to buy me a watch for my law school graduation in May. I am trying to decide between the Submariner and the Datejust. I am returning to a large firm in NY after the bar, and the dress code there is business casual (jacket, no tie, slacks), although most partners wear suits everyday, and I would wear suits on days with meetings. I would like for this watch to be one that I can wear most days, which leads me to my dilemma: I love the sub--it was the first watch I ever really "noticed"--but I am concerned it is going to be too sporty for everyday wear at my office.
This will be my first high end watch, and perhaps my only, so I would really like to make the right decision. I'm hoping you guys can educate me a little. Do you think a Sub is acceptable with a jacket, dress shirt and slacks? On days when I do need to wear a suit, would most say that the sub shouldn't be worn?
