One thing that questions like this always fail to realize is that, although the average passerby doesn't quite understand what he/she's seeing, the altogether look makes them think "damn, that guy looks good" (assuming you pull it off). It's the little details that make the big picture...

And not everyone wears a coat and tie every single day all the time.
