Why are shirt bottoms longer in the front and back and not straight the whole way around?

I'm getting custom shirts made and this is an option (rounded vs. straight across). In looking at shirts, I imagine this is done for a bit more mobility (higher on the hips means the legs can move more freely, in theory.) Is this the reason?

Might not need clarification in this forum, but these are dress shirts to be tucked in.

I believe it's a mobility thing. If you're going wear them tucked in, get the rounded one.
