What do I know? My legs actually get tired and when I take them off it is a huge relief.

I have had good luck at Johnston and Murphy. I don't know anything about what is best, but they have pretty nice patterns.

Do you have large calf muscles? Maybe the elastic of the sock is putting too much pressure?

You might try Maus & Hoffman over the calf cotton socks ($23.50 each). They come in exact sizes and the elastic does not wear out. They're available from the catalog. The most expensive socks are John Lobb ($50.00)-I bought a pair, but am afraid to wear them.

Another plug for Nordstrom socks. They are only $10-12, very durable and they come in different sizes...if, like me, you have a size 13 foot, you will wear out a "one size fits all" sock very quickly, no matter how good the fabric/construction.

The color band is great for both separating the socks at the laundry and for getting dressed in dim light.

T4phage,

I pay them 15€-20€.
Wow, that is the same price as DD here. Burlington is a lot cheaper, I would think about Euro 10 to 15 maximum.

I haven't found my perfect socks yet but my favorites are always the ones in sizes. It keeps my wife from nicking them.

Anyone else got that type of sock problem ?

T4phage,

I will save with tailors, to pay out british socks and shoes.

Anyone else knows Burlington? Just Europeans? In Italy they have been legendary ...

My wife nicks my socks regardless of size. Worse, she always nicks the most expensive and fragile ones for no good reason. If I have a sock that I only wear on special occasions because I don't want to wear them out, I don't need to see her toss them on to go to the gym.

Despite the English name, Burlington is actually a German company based in Immenstadt in Bavaria. http://www.burlington.de/ They are a sister company of Kunert (mainly ladies stockings and tights but also some men's items). I believe Burlington is aiming at a more fashion forward customer than Kunert.
