I agree to FNB - white shoes are obviously very dandyfied; if I'd wear them I'd go for suede. But, judging from the picture, they aren't, are they?

I'm trying to work up the courage on these, so the input has been of help.

If I can find a deal on them I think I'll venture into new territory. I'll pair them with light pants, I'm rarely in a suit past June in Oklahoma. If anybody sees a deal in 9D, let me know.

I had a pair, unfortunately I bought them too tight and had to give them away. My experiences were that that most people will assume they are kicks and the ones who look more closely will think they are beautiful. And I don't know where you live but in the US these shoes are a nostalgic touch to a summer suit. We still have the term "white shoe" in our popular American mind and I think it evokes positive images.

No courage necessary to buy them but to ease you into wearing them:

I would wear them a few times in a place you feel at home to put a little weathering on them and to get comfortable wearing them. The only thing that might be hard at first is the self consciousness of wondering what people's responses to them will be. That will fade with wearing but you don't want to stumble in an elderly lady while looking at your feet repeatedly.

And please post some pictures of the outfits you put them on with.
