I have two winter coats that I have acquired and am trying to decide which one to keep (or neither).
The first is a Navy Brooks Brothers Loro Piana storm system topcoat that goes to the top of my knee. It is their standard offering which is made in China and gets good reviews. Hidden buttons on the front placket.
The second is a Hickey Freeman Navy full length overcoat that ends mid/upper calf. 100% wool with no details on the source. Made in the US. Standard three-button coat
The BB is ever so slightly warmer but not enough to sway the vote and has fleece lined pockets whereas the HF does not. The BB has a couple more interior pockets than the HF.
I am partial to US products and like the look of longer length slightly better. I guess the real question is whether the storm system fabric really makes that much of a difference in real use. There also seems to be a growing popularity of the above-the-knee coats.
Thanks for any feedback!
