So I'm seriously considering venturing off of my usual miserly path and picking up a pair of EGs at full retail. The only place I've found that has my size in stock has the Berkeley in a very desirable colorway (dark oak?) for about 505GBP.

Outside of that, can they be had more cheeply? Normally I'd wait for a pair to come along but nothing as of late in a 12/12.5. Thanks

Me - being a small-timer I'd wait for something for sale here. My size isn't THAT common but nevertheless I've seen way more bnib shoes for sale here recently than I can justify buying.

EG has a semi-annual sale. But I have not seen anyone posting size 11.5 / 12.0 UK.
Why not give C&J Audley a try?

That is is.

Bris - just keep in mind that color of Dark Oak in the photo seems especially light where it is not antiqued. Usually it will be a bit darker all around. Just want to make sure your expectations are in proper shape!

Yes, Dark Oak is gorgeous, but it definitely doesn't look much like Bris' picture. It's much darker ... but great looking and amazingly versatile as it works with so many things. It ages incredibly!

Thanks gents, I just called it dark oak but could be mistaken. I should probably consult the color chart.

^ I'm a big fan of that shade of Edwardian and the antiquing job on that pair. I've coveted it before. I would probably lean towards getting that in the Elmsley which is the derby version of the Berkeley.

And then there are these which may trump them all. A touch more antiquing on these especially around the stitching to provide a touch of contrast would be perfecto.
