The one in Linux is actually pretty handy. The OS X one has a nifty bitwise mode. I use my iPhone one a little bit. Sometimes I still bust out my TI-86 when I need to use trig functions. Many times I'll just use Excel.

There are people who probably still balance their checkbooks manually.

My calculator rarely makes it off my desk. I use it a dozen or more times a day. It's a TI-89, and I use it both for simple math as well as trig, calculus, and importantly, equation solving -- I have no desire to manipulate equations anymore.

Most decent keyboards have a calculator button.

Yes - why would anyone use the windows calculator instead of excel ?

Hit the Start button, hit Run, type "calc" and hit enter. Much faster.

I always keep a big 10-key at my desk to run off some quick calculations as necessary. It's definitely an accountant thing...

This is EXACTLY what a dude at work uses. I NEVER see him go anywhere without it.
