Do you think that people on here tend to like British style of Italian style shoes more?

I'd say British (except for iammatt, who even likes his steak-n-kidney pie to be made in Italy).

I've discovered that I like Vass more than anything else. I don't particularly like English shoes, though.

What makes Tramezza only "ok" and Lobb "in a different league"? For my money, I'd rather get Tramezzas over Lobbs any day. Lobbs are, well, boring.

My last three pairs have been Vass... I think. I don't buy a lot of shoes. It isn't fair to say I dislike English shoes. I don't feel like paying for the ones I like, and I don't like the ones I would pay for. Not as an absolute rule, but as a general one.

What about Tramezza, Martegani, and Mantellassi?

That's funny because Lobbs are getting too weird for me. I bought a pair of chestnut Chapels a few months ago and kind of regret it. I just wish the strap configuration was more traditional. Now they're sitting in my closet unworn, awaiting a final verdict.

I find Ferragamo's construction, lasts and leathers to be pretty blah. Lobb's leathers and construction methods are superior to SF Tramezza, and that's why I think they're "in a different league". I don't find them 'boring' - in fact Lobb's designs are pretty avant-garde as far as high-end shoes go. Just my opinion.

I agree. Too much random detailing. They seem more interested in creating shoes that are distinctively Lobb than anything else, and I think the designs suffer for it.
