Pith Helmets.

I have seen American mailmen wear plastic ones - not a good look and probably not that good at keeping out the heat.

I used to wear a classic one one in Hyderabad as a boy - quite acceptable -

I do not like the African style ones.

Knee-high leather boots. Unfortunately, they only seem socially acceptable in country sporting situations, with lots of tweed, or in science fiction universes.

Were you smoking a pipe when you were crowd surfing at Whiskey a Go Go?

I am having fun picturing that.

Aside from the sword--which seems to only suit highly elaborate military dress uniforms or 18th century breeches--I would have no compunction wearing any of the things listed out in plain daylight.

A pith helmet requires a specific climatic locale.
