Given the recent posts on both capes and past fashion eras, I was wondering what people wish was acceptable to wear out in public?

Im in the military, and I would absolutely love it if I could wear my ceremonial sword out in public. It would be a very masculine accessory, cool colours, and you could really add quite a bit of colour to it, and itd still look amazing. (look at scottish regimental swords, lots of colour and cloth)

I would definitely wear more ascots if it was fashionable. Also men should start wearing hats again.

I wish it was fashionable to wear tuxedos to black-tie events(!)

While I'll concede that neither is fashionable, are they really that unacceptable? In the interest of full disclosure, I wear both--hats as part of my daily routine and ascots as an occasional sartorial adornment. I regularly see at least a couple of other gents wearing a hat, and the second to last time I wore an ascot, I actually saw two other men wearing one. Admittedly, each had about 25 years on me, but still.

Is it still fashion if you have a concealed carry permit?

I'm all for bringing back the duel. I can't be bothered with legal issues, but I yearn for the return of the greats, like Burr vs. Hamilton.

I humbly present, for your consideration, the penis sheath.

I have worn the ascot from time to time. You can get away with it depending where you go, but it's still one of those things that some people are not going to appreciate. Hats are certainly acceptable, it's just that no one wears them. I would like to go back to a 1920's aesthetic with 3 piece suits, hats and increased formality.

I hate hats. They're awful. Just about anyone who wears a hat these days is sporting a horrible affectation and it's terrible.

That said, if hats were more universal, I would not be saying this. Just the silly **** that the Justin Timberlake set wears today is godawful, and it stains everyone.
