1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Yo-han, insane looking burger. I like the idea of pickled onions and the semi-dry tomatoes.

Just a sandwich. Was at my parents' house for lunch, so I wasn't that hungry last night.

Very nice dinner, x-poasted. Duck leg confit, cauliflower mash, and a simple salad of baby greens, herbed goat cheese, toasted pine nuts and vinaigrette dressing.

Tonight, going to harvest some basil and make pesto shrimp pasta.

Thought I'd go vegan for the holiday weekend, so I started by being reasonable on Saturday.

"Breakfast" was a cornmeal crusted pork sandwich from 4505 Meats:

Lunch was Naked Lunch's foie gras and duck prosciutto sandwich:

Dinner was the late-night menu at Lafitte in the form of a foie BLT:

went to a different outpost of my favorite Italian place last night, had a basic salad, and couple pasta dishes - a linguine with gorgonzola and asparagus, and a hand mortared pesto with garganelle, both good. Had a decent bottle of Nebbiolo with it.

It maybe a reaction to the foie ban of 2012 in CA, but there seems to be foie ending up on everything, like how everything is getting truffled. The only thing is, there's no fake, synthetic foie to use, so it's a win for foie lovers. [IMG]

Putting bacon and foie in your body at 11:30pm is worth losing the last 5 years of your life. I think they only serve this on their late night menu, because it's like soft core porn on late night Cinemax... it's a bit naughty, but fun.

I wish that instead of having bacon and foie, they had cured and smoked the foie. Why won't anybody fucking smoke foie? [IMG] I need to buy a smoker next time I have more than fifty cents in my bank account.

Fuck yes you do, then you need to smoke it and then make smoked foie cake with crumbled chicharrones on top.

Just con Pio into doing it. He owns like 8 smokers and half of the world's foie supply.

Bro, I have tried talking Pio into doing all kinds of things. Smoking foie, making torchon, etc etc. But no. He is as vanilla as it comes when it has to do with foie. Seared seared seared. UGH. I thought Pio and I were bros, but he won't spend a couple hundred bucks indulging my curiosity????

How about that flower pot smoker that Alton Brown made? You can probably use the 50 cents you have to buy what parts you can't steal from lawns and parks.

Sure, but then what am I gonna do? I don't know of anywhere that sells foie by the slice in Chicago. Maybo Fox & Obel but I avoid that place like the plague. Plus I will have spent my final $.50 on the damn pot!

Slice? Bitch, I'll send you a lobe to experiment with if you get the smoker running.

[IMG] Let's just wait until I can afford to fly out there and then we will experiment with foie in ways that will make Michael Ginor wet his pants.

By the time that happens, it'll be 2012 and foie will be banned. [IMG]

Well then you can come to Chicago and I'll supply the foie. We already went through our banishment and un-banishment of foie. Doubtful we'll go through it again, unless guys like our Watermelon Cake Chef here get their way. BTW Thanks for believing that I wont' have a couple hundred spare bucks for two years!
