What colour lining for traditional 3-piece grey flannel?

I'm thinking of a traditional three-piece grey flannel (Fox Flannel) from Bookster. If it was two-piece I'd go for a bright lining but I'm thinking something more conservative might be more in keeping with the a classic style. Especially as I will wear the waistcoat without the jacket, what lining would be best? Black seems too stiff. Royal blue or navy? Thanks for your thoughts.

There are a number of silvers and grays that work well. I wouldn't do navy or royal, too bright. Maroon and dark wine work extremely well with mid to dark grays and coordinate pretty universally with shirts and ties. B

I selected light gray for a charcoal pinstripe and purple for solid charcoal.

I have navy in mine which works well although I could also see a chocolate brown or a burgundy red.

Gentlemen all,

Thanks for your replies.

When I saw the first one -- silver -- I thought: of course, how could I not have known?

Then a vote for blue, navy, off white, dark greens, browns, reds and burgundy.

... seems like almost anything would work (I'd worry about off white showing dirt).

Bookster offers a claret that might fit the bill:

Thank you all for taking time to reply.
