I really want to try all the styles. Is there any way to procure it in NY without paying the exorbitant amount the grey market asks for them?

zzzzz fine. I'll be more specific. Does anyone in NY have any bottles for sale and isn't charging 40 bucks + shipping for a 300 mL? -_-;

eBay. Buy them in packages of 6. Drink 1, keep 1, and make 4 friends happy.

ebay is how people get them. Its quite easy. Unless you visit the actual monastery at the exact right time, there is no reason to think you can get around the markup.

BevMo and Whole foods carry them-at least in San Francisco.

Westvleteren doesn't distribute, so I kind of doubt that. Your best bet is to be in Belgium or the Netherlands, otherwise you're going to have to pay the $30-40 a bottle you've seen.

I've gotten it from there. Check Bevmo's website and call Whole Foods.

In San Francisco it does-at least in one of them because I signed up for an email alert when they had the "12" in stock.

Whole Foods carry the 8, 10 and 12. The 12 runs out quicker than the rest. Going there this week and it retails for $7.49.

Will pick one up and show you the receipt.

You could also trade for them. If your area has any good craft beers available or if you already have them, you can try and find somebody that has Westvleteran beers and see if they're interested. If you do this though you'll probably need a few good craft beers that can be hard to get to intrigue the trader, like KBS or Dark Lord for example.

NYC isn't exactly known for its microbrew scene and the popular ones are easily found. Sigh... guess I have no choice but to fork over the money -_-; Watch the receipt say BEER or WEST only.

Just go to Spuytin Duyvil (sic) in BK, I bet I couldn't even tell the difference between a Westy and another top Belgian in a blind test, and I bet the same for you.

$7 is for one bottle but the bottle is bigger than those regular ones. they aren't sold as a 6-pack
