This came up at a recent law school open house. When you're basically in a room to mingle with a bunch of strangers and you're talking with someone, what's a polite way to end the conversation?
I've constantly found myself in situations where I'm talking with someone I just met for a while, but after a while either the conversation has stalled or it's just been too long (I mean, you're not supposed to introduce yourself to just one person at these kind of things); at this point, I never really know how to politely end the conversation. Recently I've been doing "Well, it's been nice talking to you," but I've always thought that's a bit rude to end a convo so abruptly. Sometimes I'll say, "Well, I'm going to go get another drink," but who's that fooling?
What's the "SF-approved"
way of doing this?
