Finally got around to getting this NOS Sharkskin Stuart McGuire loafers painted after removing the strap. I feel they are now wearable at least.

Recently found this Stuart McGuire Shark loafers in close to new condition. I love the description from Classic Shoes for men (380 Euros) but the actual shoe design is rather poor and feels "cheap". I wonder if removing the strap and dying it a darker brown would improve the looks.

Pebble grain LWB by Taylor-Made for casual Friday.

Seiko Sportstimer for the Japanese domestic market from July, 1969. At least my research has led me to believe that the 21j movement and dial markings mean it was for the JDM, though the bracelet seems to be wrong. This one doesn't get much wrist time -- it is in need of a service and it's one of two watches I have that I am afraid to touch.

Almost NOS vintage pair that i bought on streetsale today. Brand name on shoes is Apollo (only Apollo shoesmaker I know is pre-brand of Heinrich Dinkelacker from Germany - Hungary but the logo is different). Seems like 40 or 50s shoes, high stitches per inch, leather is fine not the top notch (maybe because the age), leather sole with closed channel stitch. Anyone know about the brand ?

In search of knowledge, I took a sanding block to the cracking, flaking uppers of my newest Florsheims. Here is the result of about 30 minutes of chipping away at the uppers: View attachment 1894343 View attachment 1894345

So, what do you think of what remains? Looks kind of nubuckish. Certainly looks like it would not accept any kind of shine. If you do the other shoe they could be a pair of beaters.

Nubuck seems like an accurate description for what is left.

I may try to even out the uppers with some suede/nubuck dye, or experiment with acrylic products to give them a new top coat.

How does the leather feel? In my experience, kidskin is not as prone to drying out and cracking as calf.
The leather feels good. Seems supple. You have a lot more experience with 1930s pairs than I do.

I probably shouldn't have scheduled the auction to end during the super bowl.

Go Chiefs!

The thrifted Alden 2146 shell medallion cap toes cleaned up pretty good. Does anyone know when they stopped making them?

I have a pair in my size and with their double oak soles, I walk in them with authority. Very solid shoes.

Built on the Aberdeen last, one of my favorite Alden lasts.

Looking good! I have the 2160 (which I really love). I regret not picking up a 2145/6. If I see a 10eee in the wild I will…
