Any tips on digging through those big blue bins? I was in a thrift store looking at them one day but didn't quite know where to start.

No bins at my thrift stores. I just systematically go through each pair on the shelves.

IF I were to visit @CWOyaji and @friendlygoz in California, then I would wear long sleeve shirts, a haz mat mask, and then dive into a bin.

I was going to offer the suggestion of immediately retaining legal counsel.

Instead, I offer you a STRONG recommendation that you hire armed bodyguards.

Dyeing Golden Harvests??????

The wear and tear on this pair in particular looks damn near impossible to clean up to the point being able to be worn in a professional setting without darkening them to mask the discoloration...

Not to mention that I think the color is too high contrast for dark colors and too similar to tan tones to pair well with any pants that I own. :hide:

But this is all probably a moot point because there's no way I'm going to pay $300 Canadian plus shipping for that condition (has also been reheeled, on top of the numerous stains, scuffs, and scratches).

Some acetone or renomat will clean those right up. Contact the seller. I know him. He is open to reasonable offers.

When I was first selling shoes on eBay, I found a pair of Florsheim which I suppose now could have been golden harvest. They were actually a yellow color. And they were so grungy that the perforations looked black. Because they were more yellow than golden I thought they were truly ugly. I remember buying them for 98 cents. I did not have an appreciation for them at the time.

But I do remember they were the first pair of shoes I was sold that went over $100. I remember being astounded that something like that would sell for so much. If I remember right they were nine or 9 1/2 and I specifically said in the listing that I did not clean them because I thought whoever would buy them would want them to stay ugly.

Now, of course, I wish I would’ve cleaned them up and figured out if they were really golden harvest. And if I found a pair in my size I would certainly be willing to pay $100 for them.

Oops. I accidentally just bought another pair of vintage black pebble grain LWBs. These are Foot-Joy. They'll look great next to my Florsheim Imperial Kenmoor, Florsheim Royal Imperial Kenmoor, Allen Edmonds MacNeil (x2), Bostonian, Weyenberg Massagic, and BA Mason Executive Imperials

I finished my vintage Florsheim watchband. It was a real learning curve because, believe it or not, the good people at Florsheim never really considered construction that would help a person to cut up the shoes and make them into a band. I saw a person do this online, and he charged $150 for a band. With my hourly billing rate, it would have been easier and cheaper to buy one. But I would not have had the fun. Another shout out to @eTrojan for the kind donation of a pair of shoes for this project.

I'll take this comment to mean that people in this thread would want to draw and quarter me if I bought the one in my size available on eBay and dyed it a different color?
YES they did not make 9.5EEE and I have never found a pair in 10E. I would be upset if an existing pair in any size was molested in such a manner.

I have a pair in 9eee that were custom made. Keep up the good thoughts.

Also, first wear today of some lightly used 93602s.

How in the hell did the suicide heel design continue for decades?! I just almost ate it on some tile flooring walking completely normally. I had to pretend that there was a slick/wet spot because a coworker asked what happened.
Welcome to the club!

I have a pair of Shell Cordovan that would be a good candidate for a project like that. And I
have a source for some patterns. ;)

So you think they're overpriced for their condition? I was considering this pair as they are the only pair of GH I've seen even close to my size, but I'll let the experts debate their proper worth.
