Viberg just emailed me, the rubberized leather I selected for [part of] one of my MTO’s is no longer available. They’re recommending Italian matte calf but I don’t have a swatch in front of me and am torn as to whether or not I should cancel that boot.

They canceled all MTOs that were natural crust horsebutt. Apparently the hides had too much shoddy grain; I’m happy they did some QC this time around...but then again they contacted me Friday afternoon and still haven’t replied to my questions.

I’ll most likely look for a refund as the other swatches were cool but not cool enough to pay an upcharge for boots similar to their stock models.

I think you should refund 100%. Italian calf is amazing and I’ve tried a pair on, but it’s a little bland for a $900 MTO.

They were out of the leather I selected too, I went with a different one. Really comes down to personal preference, I was happy to choose another there were several I liked. The guy above clearly was not. Nobody can answer that question but you.

Which did you select first?

The waxed black camel reverse. They told me at the time it was low but thought there was enough. I picked up the side zips in that leather at the sample sale so In a way it worked out quite well for added variety.

I have a pair of Guidi matte black and really like it. Also maybe consider smooth charcoal chamois?

What is the Guidi Matte Black like? Is it a thick, rugged leather or more of a smoother, “refined” leather?

Does it require much care and conditioning?

I don’t baby it but it’s not particularly thick and would need to be lined. Smooth charcoal chamois, would be better I think. I have a pair of Mushroom chamois (in roughout) and that leather is reallyboily and rugged. Needs zero maintenance

Does anyone own anything with Mocha Tan Oil Roughout ? Can’t resist the idea of owning boondockers in this leather but would want to know if the leather is as thick and formidable as it appears to be..
I had a pair on grain side its pretty bombprood. patrick b 's pair that he just had resoled looks pretty damn good for how long he's had them and posted them in here.

I think someone recently ordered an MTO side zip on a different last (2045/1035) but don't think I've seen anything through a retailer or their website.

We need pics of this, I've been thinking of doing something similar next MTO round but would like to see how they look first.
