They're really really great. One BD he made for me in White Alumo Oxford is easily my most frequently used shirt.
Oh, is that one of his more expensive fabrics? I was browsing online through Thomas Mason's books and I think I would probably just start out with some sort of poplin or twill shirt and 1 or 2 button downs in an oxford. My current favorite shirt is a Turnbull & Asser one in some sort of heavier poplin.

I don't believe it's in the top end, but once I bought one with the BD configuration the base price was EUR250, and the Alumo EUR280 (this has in all likelyhood been adjusted for inflation since then, but I don't have details, courtesy of them not specifying the individual costs of shirts when remote ordering, and me not asking).

From my understanding the Alumo is Lucas favorite for the white BDs, and from my perspective with good reason. However, I've heard that the rest of the Alumo range is pretty uninspired visually.

I disagree about Alumo's range being uninspiring visually, unless you are looking for vanity. They have one of the best ranges of poplin and oxford in the business, stripes, solids, and more. The Supreluxe range is sublime; durable, soft, washes and irons well.

In terms of linens, Solbiati (Loro Piana) IMO cannot be beat in terms of softness, colors, and overall selection.

Iuse two Alumo lines as I find very little else comparable: Cashmarello (cashmere and wool), and Soyella 170s poplin.
