This is like asking who makes the best cake.

The best will be the color you like best, the brogueing you like best, in the style you like best, with the fit you like best.

I like Lobbs and own several pairs but those are too narrow looking for my tastes in suede. I prefer the C&J cap toe. It is a bit more substantial looking without being heavy.

i like the look of both .. i love the colour of the C&J .. its the westfield i assume?

do you think it would change the character of the shoe if the leather sole was replaced by a rubber one? the debate have raged on the merits/demerits of danite on SF for a more traditional shoe but on a suede shoe is this incorrect? im thinking along the lines that as a country/weekend shoe it may make more sense with a rubber sole?

I have the C&J Westfield, it's my fave. Perfect color and shape. I like it better than their Handgrade suede oxford (the Belgrave?)

I think a classic suede like the C&J with a Danite or commando sole would be awesome. As long as you don't try to pull it off in a serious business setting or with your DB navy Chalk strip suit. But with jeans, cords, heavy tweeds, heavy flannels and a sport coat, I would like that look.

Carmina is making these suede austerity brogues for a Epaulet/StyleForum MTO Group buy to be delivered this spring.
