Topy or toe taps?

I use toe taps to deal with the problem you described - I guess we have a similar gait. I also use rubber sole protectors (Topys), because I find leather soles to be treacherous. I also wear out leather soles too quickly if I don't cover them. I do not use heel taps. I tried them once, and they were uncomfortable. I also don't wear out the heels of my shoes like I do the toes. My long gait is most likely the culprit for my odd wear pattern.

Metal toe plates are the way to go if your concern is the toe. Topy's will wear down well before metal toe plates will. I suppose you could get both toe plates and Topy's. You just need a competent cobbler. The Topy's would of course end where the steel toe plates meet.
