Guys,

Want to try this whole online dating thing, except I don't have many good pics to put on these websites, so I was thinking about splurging and getting professional pictures taken.

Have some basic questions...for example, what are a few ideal things to wear? I was thinking of getting mostly head shots taken, so the shirt I wear is the only thing that really matters...what do you guys think would look best?? Turtlenecks, crew-neck sweater, collared dress shirts (I have almost every color), etc...

Also, what are your opinions on black and white vs. color pics??

Finally, what is the best way to pick out a professional photographer?

Thanks guys.

Forget the pro photographer. What you want to do is convey your personality through the pictures. If you are VERY goodlooking, then focus on conveying looks instead.

Most dating sites let you put more than one pic up. So chose a variety. 1) a professional pic, in a suit; conveys you got you're sh*t together, working, white collar job. 2) A athletic pic, doing something active, whatever you're hobby is; shows that you not the typical corporate stuffy guy, and have interests. 3) A fun pic, one with you and some friends, women friends would be better; something like all your buddies having a toast. Conveys that you already have a social circle and friends, that you aren't desparate.

Let the pictures tell a story. If you just list interests in the section where they let you do that, well... you know what they say, actions speak louder than words.

You want to appear as a fun guy to be with, someone who can ADD value to a womens life, not just someone who seeks value from her.

Most guys botch these online profiles by treating it like a resume. Don't be that guy.

Some things to think about reguarding photo color: Everyone looks better in black and white, people know this and will downplay looks based on a B&W photo. They are slimming and make your skin tone even. Watch out for girls with only B&W photos... Watch out for girls with only headshots, they're fat..

Quick tip: the hottest girls tend not to post pics, so email some of them based on profile, it might work out.

mike c. gave some good advice. i can only add that you should take the pictures yourself or have a friend take them. for better results, turn off the flash on the camera. use a tripod or set the camera on a table top. use the self-timer. basically you want to avoid camera shake.

i would say shoot in color unless you have bad skin.

as for what to wear, basically what mike said. i would try one picture where you are dressed to impress and a couple where you look more laid back.
