Tie lighter than suit?

Thoughts on ties lighter than jackets? The only tie darker than this midnight blue suit would be black. Does a tie of a different hue, also in a dark shade, allow the tie to go better with the dark suit even though not as dark as the suit?

Do you usually prefer ties darker than suits, vice versa, or, to your eye each can look nice.

To my eye each can look equally nice.

A navy suit can look really sharp with a blue tie that’s lighter than navy. A gray suit can look really sharp with a dark navy tie.

I think both can look equally good.
