For the second time in recent months female asian students from Princeton have stopped me on the street to take photos of me for a class project.

One had no idea about the other.

Karaoke is the worst. I don't understand it at all. So anti-social. A bunch of people drinking ****** beers staring at a person signing. So ******* boring. Anytime somebody invites me I berate them on how much of a dumbass they are for enjoying such a thing.

Whenever I go, its to the korean karaoke places where you get a private room and it is pretty much a room full of people singing(and the one we usually go to has pretty decent pitchers of beer). Sure there are are only two microphones, but everybody is singing and nobody holds the mic close enough to their mouth to actually be heard over the speakers.

There are also many places where you can have very attractive young Korean women come sing with you. The services that don't involve prostitution (and literally just involve scantily clad young women coming to sing with you...you probably couldn't do anything with them...I mean you probably could, but it would be just as tough as picking up a girl working at a bar...she'll have dealt with it every night) are cheap. Maybe under a hundred.

Regardless, Korean karaoke is very social (with or without ordered women). As OTC in, you've got a private room with your friends and generally will have a good time. There is very little sitting around watching other people sing (and since the people aren't singing in front of a crowd but in front of friends, they are willing to be silly and/or go all out).

I thought that those "ordered women" were all about prostitution.

Hmmm, I may have committed a party foul or two in younger days, then...

I don't get people who have hundreds of 'friends' on Facebook ('Oh look everyone at how insecure I am! I have 500 Facebook friends!'), but are unable to maintain real friendships outside of it.

700 friends?

How is that even possible? I have 200 and constantly feel the need to delete people. 700 would drive me mental.

i have a good sized just-below 300 friends. It's a good mix of mostly people I like and whose opinion I value, plus a few idiots whose life failures gives me pleasure, plus a few who i don't really know but they don't post enough to make me take them off my friends list.

And 3 SFers.
