What's up with people always taking notes no matter what? How do you have a 10 minute business meeting and end up with 3 pages full of notes? What are these people writing down? I feel like sometimes a transcript would have been shorter.

I'm with you on that, although I just figure that whatever works for a person is fine. I've never been much of a notetaker, either professionally or in school, except when it's absolutely necessary. I find I can listen and concentrate better without them. But I can understand how it might be otherwise for some people -- that it could help them focus and concentrate. In some cases, though, it seems more like a prop or crutch.

I was never that person but I loved having friends who were that way. I could focus all my attention on understanding the material during lecture then still have access to all the notes come exam time.

    Here's another:

People who eat insane amounts of fast food and then try to break even by washing it down with a Diet Coke.

    Or

People who are vegetarians for health reasons but still eat insane amounts of junk food.

Yeah, I don't get that. The worst is when you're in a class and the professor reads from pre-distributed notes or slides, and people furiously scribble down every thought that comes. Ridiculous!
