This week's problematic discovery: Linked text boxes on charts seem to break their links if you copy the sheets to a new file (as in, select both at once and copy so that links between the two are preserved...works fine if you are copying within a single file). Data series and labels and stuff all stay linked, but any text boxes you have added get broken. For some reason, if you Move instead of Copy the tabs, they stay linked. So the workaround is to save the source file, Move the tabs to the new file, and then close the source file without saving and reopen it (so you get the tabs back).
Also, people who merge cells horizontally instead of using "center across selection" piss me off.
Nah, I actually like Excel... Most of the time. It does do some things to annoy me, but on the whole, Excel is one of the best things to have come out of Redmond.
