After this year’s projects, I’m 100% with you. For what we spent on HVAC and roof, I could be driving a skittle colored sports car with a massive wing and extra loud exhaust.

Georgia's revenue department is bullshit. For first time filers, you have to do a mailed tax refund (direct deposit not allowed). Processing can take 12 weeks or more. Literally a quarter of the year before they'll even mail it to you.

Same. We're getting quotes now on re-stuccoing the house, which will also require some roof work, which will be followed by doing something about our partially functional solar panels, and will probably ruin the several thousands of dollars in landscaping we had done a couple of months ago.

Homeowning sucks.

Cross post this complaining to the home ownership thread and ask if maintenance costs were factored into the rent vs. buy decision.

Also, skittles are expensive to maintain.

So I bought a house without seeing it. Yes, you can say, I'm an idiot. But I'm at sea 8 months, and I had my folks, my friends and my attorney look at it. They were like you need this one.

Many a small detail off and some big details. Luckily, I have the contractors to do the work I don't want to do. So, it'll be okay. I just realize my people don't have the level of attention to detail that I do.

Most of the downstairs has dropped ceilings. Lowering the ceilings 2.5 feet from as built 10.5 ft. Not traditional drop ceilings, but 1960s drywall. Can of worms with that. Nothing is easy.

You mean T bar? I've never seen that in a house. A traditional drop ceiling in a house would be sheet rock and studs or lath and plaster in older ones

idk it's just what I think of with a drop ceiling . I think tiles are common enough in basements but ?

isn't the whole point of a drop ceiling to have an accessible utility chase ?

Yeah they use it in commercial/industrial work so they can stuff 10 lbs of sh1t in a 5 lb bag. Before I retired they started just leaving the ceilings and cubicles out of a lot of the newer tech buildings which sure made our work easier plus we got to show it off.
