I guess this could go in the COVID thread but strikes me as a little more hibbeldy: so my sister who's been down in Alabama for the last 40 years says she's coming up for a couple of days to stay w/ my 84 yr-old mother who recently had a medical procedure that my brother & I facilitated and shepherded through her w/ countless phone calls, many doctor appointments, pick-ups, drop-offs, pharmacy trips, etc. over the last few months ("to help y'all"). Great, you know her senior living facility is very careful about COVID and has a lot rules and protocols in place so make sure you know familiarize yourself w/ them before you arrive. You're vaccinated, right? "We're good to go!" She drives up from AL w/ her husband and arrives two days late because of "a flat tire". She waltzes in w/ no mask ("no one said anything about a mask") despite the fact that this has been the community rule for the last 1.5 yrs and the presence of a huge warning on the front door (when my brother stops by to see them later she is wearing an eyeshade sleeping mask over her mouth .) Of course it turns out she is not vaccinated (although her husband is) and throws a hissy fit when we insist that she get tested. She storms off to CVS and texts us a pic of the negative test result along w/ a message saying they will be leaving as soon as the flat tire is fixed.
Maybe they were driving a high performance sports car that required special racing tires that your normal Discount Tire won't carry and needs to get shipped. That flat tire delayed them for 2 days and that still needed to get fixed when they got there sounds a little suspect.

They always have car trouble of some sort. Plus, I suspect they're not very good drivers. Over the years my brother has twice driven by a fender-bender (locally, in NJ) and suddenly realized it was my sister and brother-in-law visiting from AL. This time it turned out that part of the delay was due to brother-in-law needing testing b/c of COVID scare at work. I think this annoyed my sister and may have contributed to her than usual mental state. That flat tire delayed them for 2 days and that still needed to get fixed when they got there sounds a little suspect.
Something like that - more time driving than visiting.it sounds like they're leaving in 2 days
I'd be making sure she doesn't try and get Mom to change the will. That visit was definitely NOT about spending quality time with your mother.
