Yeah I’m definitely paying movers next time. Now U-Haul is blaming me for some damage I didn’t do to a truck that was already trashed. (I was lucky enough to return on a day when the district manager was visiting, and she checked in my truck.)

OTOH, I have a job for life now, so my state of broke-ness is temporary. I can’t complain too much.

When my wife separated form the Air Force, they moved us to where we live now. To get reimbursed, the movers have to weigh the truck and add mileage. Well the dumb ass movers decided to not weigh the truck at Point A, forgot to weigh the truck at Point B and then remembered that they forgot to weigh the truck after it was completely unloaded at 10:30 pm. They then wanted to reload the ******* truck to go get it weighed. I was apoplectic, told them to **** off, called the company directly and told them I will give them $500 total, which we could not not get reimbursed for. **** moving.

Never self-moving again. The friends I had helping me dragged part of my bed frame down the stairs and gouged every ******* runner. Now I need to get something to try to cover that up before we move out. And I can’t wait to see the bed frame.

No matter how much instruction you give, people just do whatever the **** they want as fast as they can.

You are supposed to offer them beers AFTER the move is over!

Update: store manager bailed me out. Said she could see the outline of the “x” sticker on the damage. No charge.

Hopefully this is my last bad moving story.

As we are settled in our dream house I'm glad people are leaving California too. Really does great things for my property value. Someone from CA just overpaid by about 250k on a house by the entrance to our neighborhood. God bless their hearts.

to be fair, if you've just left California, $315K seems really affordable for a big house with a fire pit
