Old dog doesn't like the puppy.

Puppy is already bigger than old dog (though old dog holds his own quite well).

Puppy bothered old dog at breakfast; fight ensued.

Old dog now has a lacerated eye that needs to be removed to the tune of $800-900.

Yup. Well, is about to lose an eye. It's pretty gnarly looking, and the vet said she gives it about a 20% chance of getting better with treatment (that would cost hundreds of dollars), so we're just going to have it taken out.

It is pretty cool in its way, but he's lucky we have the kids. If it were just me, I'm not sure I'd be spending so much on him, but we had to put a dog down just a few months ago, and I can't do that to the kids again just to save the money.
