Pissing me off:

That my volleyball league team has more unforced errors than any team I've ever seen.

Really, it's a big court. You can't serve and get the ball in bounds? Is it really that hard after playing for so many years? I'm playing with a bad shoulder and bad back and it takes zero effort to serve something with aggression, let alone getting it in.

And let's not get started on siding out. My kill ratio was at least 70%. The rest of the team had maybe 15%.

Then I get pegged as an asshole when I say things like, "Half our points are from their miss-serves." (statistically accurate, it was 4-8 and they missed two serves)

You need to find a more competitive league. I'm guessing that your teammates view volleyball as primarily a social outlet.

American, American, Brit (and Canadian)

They're not really American (though I guess Stitch invited that by making an exception for Fleetwood Mac). Plus, they're a supergroup.

I'd say they're pretty American unless you're judging strictly by the birthplaces of the members. They band was pretty much formed in LA, worked for American labels, was active in American politics, etc. They all lived the U.S., to my understanding, from the time the band was formed until Nash and his wife bought their own island or whatever (not sure if the island is in U.S. territory, but it probably is). Of the members' predecessor groups, Buffalo Springfield and the Byrds were both American, LA-based bands. (The Hollies, I grant you, were a Brit band.)

So can we make the argument Jimi Hendrix was a British musician then?

Why not? Think he made all his albums, or at least those not released posthumously, in London, his real success while alive was in the UK/Europe and not the US until near the end, it was all UK musicians that gave him early support, encouragement, his long term girlfriend was a Brit...heck, he even died in London.

thAt's a good point but you're ignoring the fact that the US rules and that Canada sucks

Thanks for the condolences guys. She passed this morning, around 6. Not the circumstances in which I wanted to see my family on Mother's Day, but at least she passed peacefully.
Sorry for your loss. Sincerest condolences.

I got an email from someone named "Linzi" today. I assume this name is pronounced like Lindsay.

How do I discreetly find out who this girl's parents are so I can tell them to ***************?

Maybe. Its my girlfriend, her ****** friend and my friend. I'm not being cocky but I had maybe five unforced errors in eight games with just one leading to a lost point. Theirs are sky high.

The league is plenty competitive. My team is not. And I'm stuck with them because if I say I don't want to play with any of them, I'm branded as an asshole instead of someone that wants to step up the game.

I have a tournament Saturday with my friend, my girlfriend and another girl. I can't ditch my girlfriend (who is actually a great setter) but if my friend screws up too many times, I'm prepared to tell him we can't play tournaments together.

At least the letters combine to make the sound they're supposed to make. Every semester I've got students in my classes with names I've never seen before. It often turns out that the name is pronounced like a standard name, but spelled "creatively." The letters do not combine to make the sound that the parents thought they did. And then the students often get pissy when I can't guess the pronunciations of their names on the first day of class.
