dammit, never mind that we pay a computer firm $$$ to handle issues, I still get requests, and hilariously enough, I get the same one over and over from different people over the same person's issue. Every time something isn't right or doesn't look right, I get Person A, and if I haven't handled it Right Away, Person B appears at my door, breathless and wild-eyed, about the same problem.

Right now I've just sent person B away, and am expecting Person C to come trudging up to my door to make sure I know This Is A Problem.

And, FWIW, since I'm on my rantbox, it's never a PROBLEM. If Person Q can't print labels, there are at least four other people who can. Don't tell me this is affecting production, because it isn't. A server crash is a PROBLEM. Flooding is a PROBLEM. Cut phone lines are a PROBLEM. This is a minor minor detail, the sort of which only the very petty people can work themselves into high dudgeon.

I can't print to the label printer. I haven't printed a label in weeks, but I might need to someday.
These folders don't look right
The postman arrived early, but we have mail to send, what do we do?
This copier needs toner.
Does anyone know how to make up an address label?

Really, people.

Yes, well, I left it wide open for a reason.

BTW, this will be a long week or so, but if things turn out as I hope they do, I will have to drop 'goddammit' from my vocabulary and get used to driving downtown. No I will not provide details until the whole deal plays out.

I haven't dealt with a label printer in over a decade, and the phrase still gives me the heebie-jeebies.

It's less the printer itself and more the transition from XP to Windows 7. We put in two new machines for two of our more touchy people - a surefire recipe for heartburn IMHO - and everything about them has been troublesome.

Stitch: Thermal transfer labels, with barcodes.

Brought my car in yesterday because I thought I needed an alignment/balancing. Turns out all 4 tires had dry rot and one was beginning to bubble. Between the cost of the tires and an alignment, I'm out $500. :fu:

That's not bad at all. Some tires cost that much alone.

Oh, and one last pip. AT&T, I've been dealing with you on a regional market deal for the last 8 years, and every time I have to explain the whole deal, over and over and over again, to a new cast of characters every single time, and something always goes sideways with the billing. Always.
